RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University Baseball team suffered a 6-2 loss on Friday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference matchup against Cabrini University.
After a scoreless first inning,
Andrew Curran led off the second with a walk, followed by an
Anthony Rakotz single. Two batters later,
Josh Finger walked to load the bases. With two outs,
Tyler Kilmer hit an RBI base hit to plate Curran for a 1-0 Knights' lead.
Cabrini tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly, and then took the lead in the sixth on an RBI double. In the top of the seventh, with one away,
Colton Shaub smashed a 2-2 pitch over the screen in left field for his first collegiate home run, tying the game at two. Cabrini regained the lead for good in the eighth on a two-run infield hit and a two-run double.
Shaub led the way hitting 1 for 2 with a home run, a walk, a run batted in, and a run scored. Rakotz also reached twice going 1 for 3 with a walk.
Josh Lillis earned a no-decision as he went the first six innings on the mound. He gave up two runs on four hit and four walks while striking out eight.
Neumann (11-14, 1-9 Atlantic East) will again take on Cabrini on Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader to close out this weekend's three-game series. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 PM but the senior day ceremonies will begin at approximately 11:20am.
