Men’s Lacrosse Falls against Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team was handed a 21-12 loss against Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday afternoon.
 
It took almost five minutes for the scoring to get started as Immaculata rattled off the first three goals of the game for an early lead with 8:46 left in the first. Connor Hurley got the Knights on the board 30 seconds later with a man up goal. The Mighty Macs again went on a three-goal run for a 6-1 lead with 2:32 remaining in the opening quarter. Hurley scored again and then with 18 seconds remaining, Luke Sykes pulled the Knights within three.
 
14 seconds into the second, Hurley notched the hat-trick goal, again with the man up. He scored an even strength goal 47 seconds after that, pulling Neumann within one. Over the next nine minutes, Immaculata put together a 4-0 run to pull away once again. Renzo Garone got one back for the Knights with two minutes left in the half, but the Mighty Macs responded with nine seconds remaining for an 11-6 lead at the break.
 
Immaculata pulled away in the third, picking up six goals to Neumann's two. Hurley and Brendan Boschi picked up the goals, with Boschi's coming with 24 seconds left in the quarter. Boschi also scored early in the fourth along with a Garone goal, giving the Knights some momentum with 13:05 left to play. The Mighty Macs responded to the threat with three straight goals to put the game away. Hurley notched two more late goals before Immaculata finished it with 36 seconds left.
 
Hurley led the Knights with a seven-goal performance. Garone and Boschi added two goals and two assists each. Jake Methlie had a huge game, winning 23 of 27 faceoffs and scooping a team-high 11 ground balls. Aaron Dykes came off the bench to cause two turnovers. Owen Avelar made 13 saves in between the pipes.
 
Neumann(8-6, 2-2 Atlantic East) will get back to work on Saturday when they visit Gwynedd Mercy University in another Atlantic East Conference match-up. It's scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
