Men’s Lacrosse Falls in Final Regular Season Game at Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse battled in an 11-9 loss against Atlantic East Conference foe, Marymount University on Wednesday night.

In a very low-scoring quarter, Marymount had the lone goal at the 13:25 mark. Things picked up in the second, as the Saints doubled their lead 3:03 in. At the 9:04 mark Brendan Boschi got Neumann on the board with an unassisted goal. The Saints scored the next two goals over the next five minute before Darius Thompson took a Renzo Garone feed to make it a 4-2 game. With just five seconds left in the half, Garone pulled Neumann within one heading into the intermission.

Although Marymount struck first to open up the third quarter, the Knights responded with two Boschi goals, 39 seconds apart to tie the game. At 7:35, the Saints took the lead back with two goals in 90 seconds. Late in the quarter, Garone pulled within one again but, 18 seconds later, Marymount made it an 8-6 game.

The teams traded goals over the first five minutes of the fourth with Justice Brovero and Matt Morris getting on the board for Neumann. After a lull of almost five minutes, Connor Hurley pulled the Knights within one. Marymount made sure that is as close as Neumann would come as they picked up an insurance goal with 3:29 left.

Boschi led the attack with three goals and an assist. Garone had two goals and two assists while Thompson had a goal and an assist. Jake Methlie had a team-high seven ground balls with Javon Felix following with three. Owen Avelar made 11 saves in the crease.

Neumann (8-8, 2-4 Atlantic East) will be the fifth seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Conference tournament. They will take on number four seeded Immaculata University in the first round on Saturday afternoon.
