ASTON, Pa. - The 2024 Atlantic East Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships are set to begin on Friday, April 26th and crown the champions on Saturday, April 27
th, and this year Neumann University will be the proud hosts.
In the women's tournament, the semifinals will feature No. 1 Marymount against No. 4 Immaculata and No. 2 Marywood against No. 3 Neumann, both starting at 4pm. The semifinal winners will advance to conference championship on Saturday, April 27th at 2pm.
Marymount finished the regular season with an unblemished record. Finishing as the second seed was Marywood with their only loss coming at the hands of Marymount. The regular season meeting between No. 2 Marywood and No. 3 Neumann was a tight match throughout finished with 5-4 victory for the Pacers.
Rachel Frederick and
Sha'xaria Gordon were each undefeated in singles play for the Knights, with records of 9-0 and 7-0, respectively.
Alura Troilo had an 8-3 record in singles while going 5-4 in her doubles matches.
Dari Troilo and
Kylie Seeger each had seven wins in singles matches as Seeger added a 6-5 record in doubles play.
On the men's side, No. 3 Immaculata will take on No. 2 Neumann in one semifinal as No. 1 Marymount battles No. 4 Marywood in the other. Both semifinals will start at Noon. The winners will get together the following day in the championship.
Joe Troilo leads the Knights into the tournament with an 8-2 singles record, and a 7-4 doubles mark.
Anthony Carpinella was 6-4 in singles play, finishing 2-1 in doubles. Jame Leuzzi was also 6-4 in single play.
Daniel Bonowski has proven to be a tough doubles player with a record of 6-4.
This year the winner of the divisional portion of the tournament will advance to the Atlantic East Championship hosted at Hershey Racquet Club on Sunday, May 5th. They will face the crossover champion from the AMCC associate member institutions.
