MAC Taps Knights Trio for Weekly Awards

NEWTOWN, Pa. – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced their weekly awards on Tuesday morning, and three Neumann University student-athletes were among the recognized. Jordan Illian was named the Commonwealth Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Women's Volleyball swept their awards as Julia Solomon was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the Commonwealth, and Melissa Eddy earned Defensive Player of the Week distinction.

Illian scored two game-winning goals, tallied 11 shots, with six on goal, as Men's Soccer went 2-0 to wrap up conference action and clinch the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. In their 3-2 win at Stevenson, the senior converted a penalty kick to break a 2-2 tie in the 80th minute, just a minute after the Mustangs tied the game at two. To wrap up the regular season, Illian scored the lone goal of the game in the 57th minute as the Knights defeated Hood 1-0. This is his second Offensive Player of the Week selection this year.

Solomon had 39 kills (3.55/set), a .347 hitting percentage and 16 digs in a 2-1 week for Women's Volleyball. In a 3-2 loss to York (Pa.), the junior finished with 19 kills. In the 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark, Solomon hit .462 with eight kills. She wrapped up the week with 12 kills and a .625 hitting percentage in a 3-0 win over John Jay. This is the fourth weekly award of her career and first in the MAC.
