ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team, as the No. 5 seed, will visit No. 4 seeded Immaculata University in the first round of the Atlantic East Conference tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights finished the regular season with a record of 8-8 and a 2-4 record in Atlantic East action. The Mighty Mac were 9-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
In their only regular season battle, Immaculata came away with a 21-12 win in a game played at Neumann's Turf Field.
Connor Hurley paced the Knights' offense with seven goals while
Renzo Garone and
Brendan Boschi added two goals and two assists each.
Jake Methlie was dominant in the faceoff game as he won 23 of the 27 he took, grabbing 11 ground balls.
Aaron Dykes led on the defensive end with two caused turnovers.
Owen Avelar contributed 11 ground balls while making 13 saves between the pipes.
Throughout the regular season, Boschi led all scorers with 60 goals, 33 assists, and 93 points. Hurley scored 34 goals and Garone scored 33, while adding 27 assists. Methlie won 66% of his faceoffs in leading the Knights with 126 ground balls.
Callum Labonte turned out to be the top defensive cog with 17 caused turnovers. Avelar started all 16 games, making 183 saves in 821 minutes of play.
In the other first round game, No. 6 Marywood will visit No. 3 Marymount. Cabrini is the top seed with Gwynedd Mercy earning the second spot. They will host Saturday's winners in the semifinals on Wednesday. The semifinal winner will look to grab the 2024 Atlantic East Conference championship on Saturday, May 4
th at the home of the top surviving seed.
