ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team will take a ride to Cabrini University to compete in the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM
The Knights have a record of 8-9 and had a record of 2-4 in regular season conference action, earning them the number five seed heading into the tournament. The Cavaliers are the top seed after a conference record of 6-0 and an overall record of 12-4. They had a first-round bye.
In their first-round game, Neumann visited No. 4 seeded Immaculata University and defeated them by a final score of 21-16.
Lindsey Fagan had a humongous performance with eight goals and an assist.
Maggie Blemings added four goals and eight assists, while
Maggie Miller scored four goals with an assist and eight draw controls.
Lian Sydorowicz starred defensively with a team-high four caused turnovers.
Catriona Corrigan made 12 saves to help secure the win.
Fagan will lead the Knights offensively with 53 goals and 13 assists. Blemings leads the team with 43 assists to go with her 20 goals.
Ainsley George added 33 goals with
Cionni Warrington contributing 27. Miller is the defensive leader with 25 caused turnovers, 36 ground balls, and 74 draw controls. Corrigan is top three in the conference with 122 saves.
Neumann fell in the only meeting of the season by a final score of 22-3. Miller had two of the goals while
Adriana O'Heron scored as well. Corrigan and
Kortney Kaelin combined for 13 saves.
The winner of Wednesday's semifinal will face either Marymount or Marywood in the Atlantic East Conference championship game on Saturday, May 4
th.
