ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball suffered a 72-62 loss against Marymount University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday night.
Neumann got off to a fast start as they scored the game's first seven points in the first two minutes. Marymount went on a 9-4 run over the next five minutes to settle into the game. The Knights pulled ahead again as they went on a six-point push in just over a minute for a 17-9 lead after 10 minutes of play. Over the next six minutes, the Saints took over the game with a 16-1 run, giving them a seven-point edge. They extended the lead to 10 with another five-point run over the last minute of the half.
The Knights tried to claw back into the game over the first five minutes of the second, thanks to a 10-5 run, although Marymount responded right back with their own run of eight. Every time Neumann tried to get close, it drew an answer from the Saints. A 12-5 run in the middle of the half, allowed Marymount to take their largest lead of the game at 15, with a 59-44 lead with 8:28 left in regulation. The Knights got within ten with just under six minutes left but that is as close as they would get.
TJ Lewis led the offensive attack with 19 points while
Donte Dupriest picked up another double-double, snatching 12 rebounds to go with his 15 points.
Gary Francis also picked up double-digit points with 10.
Neumann (13-5, 4-1 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they host Gwynedd Mercy in another Atlantic East Conference game, starting at 3:00 PM.
