READING, Pa. – The Neumann University women's volleyball team swept Albright College in straight sets on Thursday evening by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 30-28.
Melissa Eddy led the team with 12 kills and added 11 digs.
Kyla Carney handed out 28 assists and nine digs.
Hannah Strohm was a defensive standout, recording 15 digs across the match.
Neumann began the first set by building a 6-1 advantage. A service ace by
Julia Solomon further widened the margin to 8-3. The Knights continued to build their lead throughout the set and won on a Lions service error, 25-20.
In set two, the Knights built a 22-16 lead. The Lions were not going quietly and scored seven points, including pulling to within one, 24-23, before Neumann could tally set point on an Albright error.
The Knights began the third set by scoring the first five points. Albright attempted a comeback, narrowing the gap to 20-19. This set up an exciting ending as the teams traded points and had to go into extra points. Down 28-27, Eddy tallied three straight kills to give the Knights the 30-28 set and 3-0 match win.
Neumann (9-9) heads to Lebanon Valley on Saturday for a tri-match with York (Pa.). Action gets underway at 1:00 PM.
