ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team upended Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference match by a final score of 1-0.
 
In an evenly played match throughout, it was a somewhat broken play that turned out to be the difference. In the 35^th minute, Julianna Hatt found the ball at the top of the box from Liz Purcell and powered in her third goal of the season. The Knights were outshot in the second half, but the quality opportunities eluded the Griffins.
 
Hatt led Neumann with four shots, two on goal. Anna Poehlmann and Sierra Lester were each credited with two shots and one on goal. Shannon Duffy made two saves for her third shutout of the season.
 
Neumann (5-8-2, 3-1), who have now won three in a row, will try to continue their winning ways on Wednesday night when they visit Immaculata University for a 7:00 PM start.
