IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision against Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference contest on Wednesday night.
After a evenly played, scoreless first half, the Mighty Macs got the lone goal of the game in the 74
th minute. A free kick by Immaculata was cleared from the box but the ball was lofted back in and turned into a breakaway in which Neumann had no answer. Altogether, the Knights kept in tight in spite of being outshot 15-12, 7-4 on goal.
Liz Purcell led the effort with three shots, two on goal.
Anna Poehlmann and
Kyleigh Joniec each took two shots, and each put one on frame.
Shannon Duffy made six saves in goal.
Neumann (5-9-2, 3-2 Atlantic East) will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they visit Saint Elizabeth University for the first time, in an Atlantic East Conference match. The opening kick is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
