MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team took to the road and put up a 6-0 win against their Atlantic East Conference rivals, Saint Elizabeth University on Saturday afternoon.
Julianna Hatt and
Malina Winterringer each scored twice to lead the Knights' attack.
Anna Poehlmann, in addition to her goal, took nine shots with two on goal.
Catherine Miller and
Cara Cimo each took five shots with Cimo earning an assist.
Shannon Duffy and
Kiki Soto split time in goal with Soto making the only save needed by Neumann.
The goal scoring started in the 11
th minute when Cimo lifted a pass to Hatt who then popped a shot over the goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead. In the 25
th minute, Poehlmann raced into offensive position and ripped a shot from distance for her fourth goal of the season to double the Neumann lead. Six minutes later,
Addison Torres grabbed the ball at the top of the 18 yard box, turned on a shot and scored her first collegiate goal, making it 3-0 at the half.
The second half featured more of the same as Hatt scored her second of the game and fifth of the year in the 63rd minute. A corner kick by
Liz Purcell was perfectly placed onto the foot of Hatt and she volleyed it in. Six minutes later, Winterringer moved in on a break and slotted in the first goal of her career to lead by five. 17 seconds before the final whistle, Winterringer received a pass from
Dylan Brown to close out the action.
Neumann (6-9-2, 4-2 Atlantic East) will close out the regular season on Wednesday evening when they host Marymount University at 5:00 PM.
