ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's soccer team secured a decisive 4-0 victory over Centenary University on Wednesday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
The Knights scored all four goals in the first half, including three in a two-minute span.
Hunter Rolles opened the scoring as he found the back of the net in the ninth minute with an assist from
Zion Atta-Krah.
Neumann extended its advantage with a series of goals in quick succession midway through the half.
Carter Gorczyca doubled the lead in the 29
th minute from a shot outside the 18, the first collegiate goal for the defender.
Or Megnazi followed by sinking a rebound into the back of the net.
Jordan Illian's shot was saved by the Cyclones keeper and Megnazi picked up the rebound in the 30
th minute. Neumann was awarded a penalty shot in the 31
st minute. Centenary's keeper made the save on
Conor McCarthy and the ball rebounded right to
Luke Mejia and he did not miss for his first goal of the season.
Neither team would find the back of the net in the second half as Neumann came away with the 4-0 win. The Knights outshot the Cyclones 20-6 overall and 11-2 on net.
AJ Henry made the two saves needed for the shutout.
Neumann (6-2-3, 2-0 Atlantic East) hits the road and travels to Pratt Institute on Saturday evening. The conference match gets underway at 7:00 PM.
