ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Hockey team suffered a 6-2 setback against the State University of New York at Brockport in a Saturday non-conference game.
The Knights had a lightning quick start as
Max Donohoe found a rebound in front for his first goal of the season.
Lucas Culhane and
Jake Barkley had the assists for the 1-0 lead. That edge lasted until the 12:00 mark when SUNY Brockport tied the game. 3:15 later, they took the lead and pushed another goal in 1:11 later.
The Golden Eagles scored the lone goal of the second period on a power play goal with 1:25 left. The third period saw SUNY Brockport notch another power play marker just 2:47 into the period. They also added an even strength goal at the 6:30 mark. With 11:31 left in regulation,
Niko Tishkevich scored on a
Zack Smith pass, but that's as close as the Knights would get.
Tishkevich led Neumann with five shots on goal while Donohoe had four and
Tyler Kennedy had three.
Liam Reid and
TJ Ezzard blocked two shots each while
Matt Perdue made 21 saves in goal.
Logan Gorbitz played the last 13:30 and made eight saves.
Neumann (0-2) will next hit the ice on Friday when they host Lebanon Valley College in their MAC Conference opener. The opening draw is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
