HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University women's volleyball defeated Centenary University 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic East Conference action.
Melissa Eddy led the Knights with 19 kills, 16 digs and three service aces.
Taylor Long tallied 14 kills and a .429 hitting percentage.
Julia Solomon added 12 kills, hitting .379.
Hannah Strohm notched 23 digs and
Bri Gautier added 17.
Kyla Carney handed out 44 assists.
The first set went back and forth, but with Neumann leading 20-16, the Knights scored five straight points for the first set win. The rally started with a kill by Eddy and Solomon sealed the win with a kill. The Cyclones made a few key runs in set two to even the match with a 25-19 win.
Centenary jumped out to a 5-0 lead in set three. The Knights kept pace and made their move while down 15-11. Neumann scored five straight points, including two services aces and a kill by Eddy, for a 16-15 edge. While tied at 23, Eddy tallied two kills for a 25-23 set three win.
The Knights were down 17-14 in the fourth set when they scored six straight for a 20-17 advantage. The teams then traded points but kills by Eddy and Solomon gave Neumann its 23
rd and 24
th points. The Cyclones pulled to within one, 24-23, but then committed a service error and the Knight came away with the 25-23 set and 3-1 match win.
Neumann (13-12, 4-1 Atlantic East) hosts Immaculata in the final home match of the regular season on Wednesday evening. The Atlantic East match gets underway at 7:00 PM.
