ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell to Ursinus College 65-44 on Wednesday evening in the home opener.
Emily DuPont led the Knights with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Jenna Aponik netted eight points,
Lindsay Holden seven and
Elaina Guerzon added six.
The Bears opened the game by scoring the first seven points. The Knights scored the next five points before the teams traded baskets and Ursinus held a 9-7 edge midway through the first quarter. Over the next five minutes, the Bears outscored the Knights 14-5 for a 23-12 lead after the first quarter.
The teams traded baskets throughout the second quarter and Ursinus held a 38-25 lead at the break. Neumann tried to keep pace with the Bears in the second half, but Ursinus continued to slowly add to its lead and came away with the 65-44 win.
Neumann (1-1) heads to Delaware Valley on Friday evening for action beginning at 6:00 PM.
