DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team dropped a 74-42 decision to Delaware Valley University on Friday evening in non-conference action.
Emily DuPont led the Knights with 15 points.
Jess Aponik grabbed eight rebounds and scored seven points while
Jenna Aponik also netted seven points.
The Aggies jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter. With just under two minutes left in the first, the Knights pulled to within one, 14-13, on a layup by DuPont. Delaware Valley netted the final six points of the first quarter and held a 20-13 lead.
The teams traded baskets to start the second quarter, but with the Aggies holding a 26-17 lead, Delaware Valley went on a 13-2 run to end the half and take a 39-19 lead at the break.
Each team scored 12 points in the third quarter for a 51-31 score heading into the final 10 minutes. Midway through the fourth, the teams were still going back and forth, but the Knights were unable to cut into the deficit. Over the final five minutes, Neumann was able to just get two free throws to fall while the Aggies netted 14 for the 74-42 final
Neumann (1-2) heads to Haverford on Tuesday evening for non-conference action beginning at 7:30 PM.
