ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team battled with Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon, falling 64-50.
Jenna Aponik led the Knights with 13 points.
Jess Aponik tallied 12 points and six rebounds.
Taylor Hehnly netted nine points,
Lindsay Holden eight and
Elaina Guerzon seven.
The first quarter was back and forth with four tied scores in the first 10 minutes. Tied at 12, a three-pointer by Holden gave Neumann the lead. The Flying Dutchmen scored the final six points of the quarter for an 18-15 edge at the first break.
Lebanon Valley hit a three-pointer to open the second quarter. Neumann then went on a 7-1 run to tie the game at 22. With the Knights holding a three-point advantage, the Flying Dutchmen hit a half-court buzzer-beater to tie the game at 29 at the break.
Midway through the third quarter, Lebanon Valley held a 36-35 edge when it went on a 12-3 run for a 49-37 lead. The Aponik sisters each hit a three-pointer before the end of the quarter for a 51-43 score.
Lebanon Valley scored the first six points of the fourth quarter and continued to hold its lead, coming away with the 64-50 win.
Neumann (1-4) heads to Widener on Tuesday evening for non-conference action beginning at 6:00 PM.
