Men’s Basketball Hosts Marywood in Conference Semis

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball will be hosting Marywood University in the semifinals of the Atlantic East Conference tournament on Wednesday night.
 
The Knights finished the conference schedule with a 9-3 record, finishing in the three-way tie for the top spot with Marymount and Gwynedd Mercy. Thanks to winning the tie-breaker, Neumann earned the number one seed. Marywood finished 5-7 and drew the fifth seed. In Monday's "Play-in" game against fourth seeded Centenary, they defeated the Cyclones by an 82-66 score.
 
Neumann and Marywood met twice in the regular season with the Knights winning both matchups. On January 4th, at the Mirenda Center, Neumann took the game in come-from-behind fashion with a 77-76 win. Donte Dupriest led the way with a double-double, notching 24 points and 16 rebounds. Mike Smith, III added 15 points with TJ Lewis and Bryan Etienne each getting 12. Etienne sealed the win with a last second free throw.
 
On February 1st, up in Scranton, the Knights won 92-81. Dupriest again had top numbers with 30 points and 21 rebounds. DJ Earl added 22 and Etienne put up 21.
 
Dupriest, since joining the team in late December, has been the driving force to the top seed, averaging a double-double in his 13 appearances, with 18.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game. Earl is averaging 16.4 points per game and Lewis is averaging 13.4. Both Etienne and Smith are also putting up double-digit points per game.
 
The opening tip is scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Mirenda Center.  The winner will take on the winner of the other semifinal featuring No. 2 Marymount and No. 3 Gwynedd Mercy in the Atlantic East Conference Championship on Saturday, at the home of the highest seed remaining.
