Comeback Complete! Women’s Basketball heading to AEC Championship Game

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Neumann University women's basketball mounted a comeback to take the Atlantic East Semifinal game 60-57 at Marymount University on Wednesday evening.

Emily DuPont led the Knights with 26 points and nine rebounds. Jacqueline Wardrop notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards while adding five assists.

The teams played a close first quarter and were tied at 13 after the first 10 minutes. DuPont scored the first basket of the second quarter before the Saints answered with the next nine points for a 22-15 lead. With the score 25-21, Marymount scored the final 11 points of the quarter to take a 36-21 lead into halftime.

The Knights started to chip their way into the deficit in the third quarter. Neumann went on a 10-0 run to pull within five, 40-35, with 3:46 on the clock. They got as close as three, 42-39, on a free throw by Aubrie Breisblatt, in the final minute. The Saints sank two three-pointers in the final 30 seconds and take a 48-41 lead into the fourth.

Neumann didn't give up and continued to shrink the Marymount lead. With 2:36 left in regulation, a layup by Wardrop put the Knights up 56-55. The Saints went back up by one with just under a minute left.

DuPont responded on the next possession with a layup and a 58-57 Knights lead. The Saints missed their next shot and fouled Bri Gautier, who made 1-of-2 from line for a two-point edge. After a Marymount turnover, DuPont was fouled and also made 1-of-2 for a three-point advantage. The Saints had two three-point looks to try and tie the game, but neither fell and the Knights came away with the 60-57 win.

Neumann (16-9) heads to Immaculata on Saturday to play for the 2025 Atlantic East Conference Championship. Tip-off if slated for 2:00 PM.
