ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team dropped a 24-8 decision against Kean University in a non-conference game on Friday night.
Connor Hurley led the way with three goals and two assists.
Brendan Boschi picked up a hat trick while
Gannon McKee notched a goal and an assist.
Bryan Avanzato led the Knights' defensively with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Owen Avelar made eight saves in goal.
Kean scored the first four goals of the game before Hurley scored on the man-up to make it a 4-1 game with 7:21 left in the first. After the Cougars scored again, the Knights rattled off two in a row as Boschi and McKee made it a 5-3 game with 3:11 left. Kean scored the next two goals to pull ahead by four after 15 minutes of play.
After an early Cougar goal in the second, Boschi put up another even strength goal. Starting at the 11:41 mark, Kean put up six in a row to lead by 10 with 6:10 left in the half.
Matt Morris scored for Neumann just over a minute later but again Kean had a strong push with the last five goals in the half for a 19-5 lead at the break.
The Cougars put up the first two goals of the third but then Hurley and Boschi scored back-to-back goals, both with the man up. Kean closed the quarter with two in a row for a 23-7 lead. The fourth quarter was quiet with each team only scoring once. Hurley picked up the lone Neumann goal.
Neumann (2-2) will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host Goucher College for another non-conference game starting at 4:00 PM.
