ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Basketball team defeated Immaculata University in an Atlantic East Conference game on Wednesday night by a final score of 65-55, for their third win in a row.
Neumann started with a strong effort as they had an early 8-2 run to take a 10-7 lead after the first six minutes. A 12-5 sprint helped them take a 10 point lead with 8:45 remaining in the first half. Immaculata did not fold as they went on their own 12-4 run over the last 7:29 to pull within two at 28-26 at the halftime break.
The Knights powered back to a big lead as they started the second half with 12-2 push over the first five minutes of the half to take a 40-28 lead. After the Mighty Mac got their deficit down to nine, Neumann scored the next five points for a 48-34 lead with 10:56 left, their largest lead of the game. Immaculata got right back into the game with a 14-4 run over the next four minutes, but a 6-0 run led the Neumann back to a ten point edge for good.
DJ Earl led the Knights offensively with 20 points.
Donte Dupriest had another double-double performance as he went off for 14 and 19 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass. He also added two blocks, joining
TJ Lewis with the game high. Lewis also contributed 13 points.
Neumann (16-5, 7-1 Atlantic East) will return to the floor, next Wednesday, when they visit Centenary University for a 6:00 PM start.
