ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team opened its home schedule with a pair of games against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions won by scores of 15-2 and 9-1 in 5 innings.
 
The Knights scored their runs in the first game in the second inning. Marina Costello and Maddi Katchuk led off with back-to-back singles. Alexis Palombi sacrificed them over. Tori Spinella singled to second and Costello scored. Kayla Naylor followed with a fielders choice that scored Katchuk for a 2-1 Neumann lead.
 
The Lions answered back in the top of the third with two RBI groundouts for a 3-2 score. TCNJ added another in the fifth, five in the sixth and six in the seventh for the final.
 
Olivia Ammon started the game in the circle and went 5.1 innings. Ang Sannicandro went 1.2 innings and struck out three.
 
In game two, TCNJ jumped out for six runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first, the Knights took advantage of two Lions miscues to plate a run on an RBI groundout by Sydney Wright.
 
Wright started the game in the circle and went 3+ innings. Costello went 2.0 scoreless, hitless innings.
 
Neumann (0-12) will welcome Stockton University for a pair of games on Friday afternoon. Game one is slated to begin at 2:00 PM.
