ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse dropped a 10-6 non-conference game against University of New England on Thursday afternoon.
Matt Morris paced the Knights' offense with three goals.
Luke Sykes scored twice and had seven ground balls while
Connor Hurley had two assists.
Jake Methlie was 9 for 14 in the faceoff dot with seven ground balls of his own.
Colin McGuire,
Bryan Avanzato, and
Sean Harrington led the defense with three caused turnovers each.
Owen Avelar made 10 saves in goal.
Morris got Neumann started with a 1-0 lead with 10:58 left in the first but New England picked up the other two goals in the quarter for a 2-1 lead. The Nor' Easters continued to pull ahead as they scored twice in the first seven minutes of the second. With 4:05 left in the half the Knights got a man-up goal from Morris to make it a 4-2 game at the half.
Sykes got Neumann within one with 13:30 remaining in the third but New England scored three in a row, all with the man-up to close the quarter with a 7-3 lead. The two teams traded goals for the rest of the game as Morris, Sykes, and
Carter Vanderhoofven put up the Neumann goals.
Neumann (2-6) will be back on the turf on Saturday afternoon when they host Alvernia University in another non-conference game. The opening face-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
