LATROBE, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team dropped an 18-10 non-conference match-up against Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon.
Connor Hurley led the Neumann effort with four goals.
Brendan Boschi had two goals, and five assists and
Matt Morris contributed a hat-trick. Both
Jake Methlie and Bryan Avenzato scooped up five ground balls.
Owen Avelar made 11 saves.
Hurley got the game started with a goal, 3:05 in, but Saint Vincent put together a five-goal stretch over the next 3:51 to grab control of the game. With just under five minutes to go in the quarter, Boschi started a 3-1 run with additional goals by Hurley and Morris, Morris' with 15 seconds left to make it 6-4.
Morris scored again just 15 seconds into the second but again, the Bearcats responded. Starting at the 11:15 mark, they scored four in a row over the next 9:16 to lead 10-5. Hurley got the Knights one goal closer with 1:24 left for a four-goal deficit at the half.
Hurley made it a 10-7 game in the early portion of the third, but Saint Vincent extended the lead further with five straight goals. Morris bookended the scoring as Neumann trailed 15-8 heading into the fourth. The final quarter was a similar story with Boschi scoring first, the Bearcats notching three in a row, and
Luke Sykes closing the scoring.
Neumann (2-5) will be back in action on Saturday, March 15
th as they visit Eastern University for a 1:00 PM start.
