CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team completed a comeback to defeat Widener University 15-9 on Wednesday afternoon.
Brandon Colon went 3-for-4 at the plate and knocked in seven runs. Four Knights added two hits each. Six Knights scored two or more runs in the game.
Kaden Netta started the game on the mound and went 3.0 innings for a no decision.
Brian Van Etten went 3.0 innings in relief and allowed one run on two hits for the win.
Rey Carrier pitched an inning and
Cam Leighton went two innings.
The Knights took an early lead in the first inning as
Tyler Kilmer doubled and scored on
Joe Boccio's double. The Pride then plated two runs in the second and six in the third to take an 8-1 advantage.
Neumann wasn't going quietly and pushed six runs across the plate in the top of the sixth. Kilmer started with a double and scored when
Thomas Carroll reached on an error. Carroll scored on a single by
Andrew Brown. Colon finished the inning with a two-run double for an 8-7 score. Widener hit a solo home run in the sixth for a 9-7 game.
The Knights took the lead in the top of the seventh with five more runs. With the bases loaded, Brown hit a sacrifice fly and Boccio scored as
Josh Finger reached on an error to tie the game at nine. Colon knocked in another two runs and Neumann held a 12-9 lead.
In the ninth inning, the Knights added some insurance runs. Finger reached on an error and eventually scored alongside

Neumann (12-6) gets back into conference action with a weekend series with Gwynedd Mercy this weekend. Action gets underway on Friday with a single road game beginning at 3:00 PM.
