ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Tennis team closed out the regular season with a non-conference win over Rowan College- Gloucester County by a score of 4-3.
The first doubles team of
Jason Petrin and
Vince Landis won their set, 6-4, but the second doubles team of
Trevor Lodge and
Joe Troilo dropped a 6-3 decision, making the third doubles set the pivotal moment.
Logan Gorbitz and
Anthony Carpinella battled hard but fell. 7-5 to drop the doubles point.
Petrin won his first singles match in strong fashion, 6-2 and 6-4 while Dan Bonowski won his fourth singles match, 6-4, 6-4. Carpinella took down his fifth singles opponent by duplicate 6-1 scores, and in the sixth singles match,
James Leuzzi had a wild three-set battle. He took the opener, 6-4 before losing the second set 7-6. He recovered to win the final set, 6-4, to clinch the match.
Neumann (8-5) will now host the Atlantic East Conference tournament starting on Friday with the semifinals against Pratt Institute. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
