LANCASTER, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team hit seven home runs and defeated Lancaster Bible College 14-4 in seven innings on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Vic Mejia started the game and went 4.0 innings. He allowed two runs on two hits.
Gatlin Hovenstine went 2.0 innings out of the pen and picked up the win, allowing a run on a hit.
Cam Leighton pitched the seventh inning.
Donovan Brooks stole two bases in the game to bring his season total to 32, tying the single-season record. (Cam Stimpson '14, Shawn Vega '23).
The Knights got on the board in the second inning as
Andrew Brown led off with a single and
Brandon Colon hit a two-run home run. Brooks walked later in the inning and scored on an RBI single by
AJ Nardo for a 3-0 Neumann lead.
Joe Boccio led off the third inning with a solo home run. Colon hit a double and scored on a two-run home run by
Chris Balshuweit.
JerVal Shuler singled and scored on an RBI double by
Anthony Rakotz and the Knights held a 7-0 advantage.
Thomas Carroll hit a solo home run in the fourth. Brooks and Rakotz hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth. Nardo then reached on an error Carroll hit his second home run of the afternoon for a 12-2 score.
The Knights added two more runs in sixth.
Neumann (20-8) heads to Marywood on Friday to start the weekend conference series with the Pacers. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
