ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team is gearing up for the postseason as they'll host Marywood University on Saturday in the Atlantic East Conference semifinals.
Neumann finished the regular season with a 9-8 overall record and was 4-1 in conference play, earning them the No. 2 seed. Marywood is the No. 3 seed after finishing their season with a 3-2 conference record. They are 9-7 overall.
Their only regular season meeting was the pivotal moment of the conference schedule for both teams as the Knights earned a 23-10 victory in the final game of the season, on Wednesday afternoon.
Alena Catka was the catalyst with seven goals and an assist.
Krista Geibler scored three goals and two assists while
Cionni Warrington added four goals.
Overall, this season, Catka had 55 goals and 18 assists for 73 points, all team highs.
Lindsey Fagan finished with 53 goals and 17 assists wiht Geibler nabbing 31 goals and 16 assists.
Maggie Miller had 36 ground balls, Geibler caused 28 turnovers, and Catka led Neumann with 92 draw controls.
Abbey Fenton played the lion's share in goal, accruing a .402 save percentage in over 773 minutes in the crease.
The other semifinal will feature No. 1 Marymount and No. 4 Gwynedd Mercy. The winners of Saturday's semifinals will meet in the championship game on Saturday, May 3
rd, at the home of the highest remaining seed.
Saturday's semifinal at Neumann University's Turf Field is set to begin at 1:00 PM and can be viewed on the Atlantic East Network, powered by the Sports Fan Base Network.
