Softball Duo Nabs Atlantic East Postseason Accolades

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Atlantic East Conference announced their postseason awards for Softball on Wednesday morning, and two Neumann University Knights were honored. Marina Costello was named the conference Pitcher of the Year and well as earned a spot on the All-Conference First team. Emily Ammon also garnered a First team spot.
 
Costello appeared in 16 games in the circle with 11 starts, with seven complete games and one shutout. Her 2.58 earned run average was the best in the Atlantic East. In 78.2 innings, she allowed 29 earned runs on 89 hits and 29 walks while striking out 70, which was third in the conference. The graduate student was named the Atlantic East Pitcher of the Week three times and was placed on the weekly Honor Roll twice.
 
Ammon was the rock behind the plate for the Knights, appearing in 41 games and starting 40. She had a batting average of .315 with three doubles and was tied for first in the conference with four triples and tied for sixth in a single season at Neumann. Her 33 stolen bases are the most in a single season in program history and was second in the Atlantic East, making her the most prolific stealer in Neumann career history with 67 in her three years. On March 24th, the junior was named the Atlantic East Player of the Week, and on April 21st, she was named to the weekly Honor Roll.
