ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 setback against non-conference opponent, Gettysburg College, on Saturday evening.
The first half showcased a robust defensive effort from both teams.
Jordan Illian and
Victor John initiated the Knights' offense early, while a late shot by
Markus Beugre was saved. Repeated corner opportunities for the Knights, totaling five in the half, highlighted their strong play, though the first 45 minutes concluded without a goal from either side.
Zion Atta-Krah and Illian got things started in the second but the team was unable to convert these opportunities into goals. Gettysburg capitalized on their chances, scoring in the 56th minute, and later extending their lead with a penalty kick.
Illian led the Knights with five shots, one of which was on goal. Beugre contributed with two shots, one of which was on target. Atta-Krah and
Jason DiFilippo each added one shot, both on goal.
Carson Metzger made one save in the effort.
Neumann (1-1) will return to action on Wednesday night when they host York College of Pennsylvania in a non-conference match starting at 7:00 PM.
