St. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision against Salisbury University in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, the Knights' defense, led by goalkeeper
Shannon Duffy, effectively thwarted Salisbury's persistent offensive efforts. Duffy made six saves by the 23rd minute. Despite the defensive stand, the Sea Gulls managed to break through with a goal in the 41st minute, putting them ahead 1-0. Neumann's offensive attempts, including shots from
Anna Poehlmann and
Julianna Hatt, were unable to find the net, leaving the team scoreless at the end of the half.
The second half began with the Knights' defense facing an early challenge as Salisbury scored quickly in the 50th minute, extending their lead to 2-0. Neumann's
Aubrey Patterson attempted to shift momentum with a shot on goal in the 65th minute, but it was stopped. Salisbury continued to increase their lead with goals in the 74
th and 86
th minutes, sealing the game.
Duffy finished with 12 saves, including eight in the first half and four in the second. Hatt led the team in offensive attempts with three shots, two of which were on target. Patterson also contributed by recording one shot on goal.
Neumann (0-2) will return to action on Wednesday night when they visit Delaware Valley University for a 7:00 pm start.
