DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Neumann University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Delaware Valley University on Wednesday evening.
The first half opened with Delaware Valley taking an early lead as The Aggies found the back of the net in the first minute. The Knights responded with persistence, and
Hannah Dang equalized with a goal in the ninth minute, maintaining the pressure with several shot attempts.
Shannon Duffy played a critical role, making key saves, ensuring the teams entered the break tied at 1-1.
The second half began with the Knights applying pressure, as highlighted by a corner kick in the 50th minute.
Liz Purcell and
Anna Poehlmann made multiple attempts to break the deadlock, with Purcell's shots on goal in the 63rd and 72nd minutes both being saved. Despite the efforts, including a late attempt by
Addison Torres in the 90th minute, the half ended without any change to the score, maintaining the 1-1 tie.
Duffy recorded three saves in her 90 minutes as goalkeeper for the Knights. Purcell contributed offensively with two shots, both of which were on goal. Dang scored Neumann's only goal, also leading the team with two shots, one of which was on target.
Neumann (0-2-1) will open its home schedule on Saturday when it hosts Muhlenberg under the lights beginning at 7:00 PM.
