Women’s Volleyball Battles to 3-0 Win at Bryn Mawr

BRYN MAWR, Pa. — The Neumann University women's volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr College in straight sets, 3-0, on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-23, 26-24, and 25-18.
 
Julia Solomon led the Knights with seven kills. Melissa Eddy tallied six kills and a team-high 17 digs. Kyndra Dale added five kills. Hannah Strohm finished with 11 kills. Kyla Sayson handed out 16 assists and notched five service aces. Liv Bowers dished out 11 assists. Taylor Long added four service aces as the team finished with 16.
 
Bryn Mawr opened the first set by building a 14-6 advantage. Neumann chipped into the deficit and while down 21-19, the Knights scored four straight points, including two service aces by Sayson, to take a 23-21 edge. Neumann sealed the 25-23 set one win on a block by Eddy.
 
The Knights capitalized on a series of Bryn Mawr errors to gain early momentum in the second set, with Solomon and Eddy each contributing key kills. Long's service ace pushed the team ahead 7-3, but the Owls responded with a 5-0 run, leveling the score at 8-8. The teams traded points, with the Knights maintaining a slight edge through timely kills by Dale and blocks by Soleil-La'Jour Staggs.
 
Down 23-20, the Knights took two kills by Solomon and two service aces by Sayson for a 24-23 edge. After a Bryn Mawr kill tied the set, Neumann sealed the 26-24 win with a service error by the Owls and a decisive kill from Long.
 
In the third set, the Knights continued to capitalize on Bryn Mawr's errors, with Staggs and Delaney Jack combining for blocks that extended their lead in set three. Up 20-18, the Knights scored the final five points of the match, capped by two service aces by Strohm, for the 25-18 set and 3-0 match win.
 
Neumann (5-8) opens Atlantic East action on Saturday when it travels to Saint Elizabeth. The match is slated to get underway at 12:00 PM.
