Women’s Basketball Secures Atlantic East Win

MORRISTOWN, N.J. – The Neuamnn University women's basketball team picked up a 61-41 win at Saint Elizabeth University in Atlantic East Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
 
Emily DuPont notched a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Lindsay Holden tallied 11 points, including three baskets from downtown. Jess Aponik added 10 points and blocked five shots. Elaina Guerzon netted nine points and handed out five assists.
 
The teams traded points throughout the first quarter. DuPont hit two free throws with 17 seconds on the clock and the teams were knotted at 15 at the first break. The second quarter was much like the first. Two free throws by Guerzon put the Knights up 25-24 with 3:04 left before halftime. Taylor Hehnly connected on a three-pointer with less than a minute on the clock for a 28-24 lead. The Eagles scored the final five points of the half and took a 29-28 edge into halftime.
 
The Knights outscored the Eagles 9-3 over the first four minutes of the third quarter to take a 37-32 advantage. The teams traded baskets and Hehnly hit a free throw in the final minute for a 42-36 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
After the teams traded baskets to start the fourth, Neumann went on a 16-0 run to pull away and bring home the 61-41 road win.
 
Neumann (3-10, 1-1 Atlantic East) heads to Marymount on Wednesday for more conference action beginning at 6:00 PM.
