GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team picked up a 71-45 win at Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon in an Atlantic East Conference matchup.
Jenna Aponik and
Emily DuPont each scored 14 points to lead the Knights DuPont added eight rebounds and four blocks.
Bri Gautier netted 12 points and added three blocks.
Lindsay Holden and
Jess Aponik finished with 10 points each.
Leading 8-7 with 4:08, a jumper by
Jenna Aponik started a 9-0 run for the Knights. The Griffins connected on two free throws for a 17-9 score after the first quarter.
The Knights scored the first five points of the second quarter and built their lead to as many as 15. After two more free throws by Gwynedd Mercy to wrap up the scoring, Neumann took a 30-17 lead into the break.
The teams traded points throughout the third quarter and, once again, the Griffins capped the scoring with two free throws. The Knights held a 48-33 advantage.
The Knights went on a 15-2 run in the middle of the fourth quarter for a 67-40 lead.
Enaysia Harmon scored the final four points for Neumann. Gwynedd Mercy wrapped up the fourth like it did the other quarters, with two free throws, for a 71-45 final.
Neumann (4-11, 2-2 Atlantic East) is back home on Wednesday and will host Marywood in a conference matchup beginning at 6:00 PM.
