FREDERICK, Md. – New Head Coach Kiriam Yordan opens his tenure with a win as the Neumann University Men's Volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win on Tuesday night over Hood College.
The first set started off with Hood leading 2-1 but Neumann went on a 5-1 lead for a 6-3 edge. The Blazers went on a run of seven of the next 10 to grab the lead but the Knights responded, with a 6-2 run. Again, Hood took the lead with an 8-4 run, but Neumann scored six of the last seven, including a five-point run to take the set, 25-22. Neither team led by more than three in the set.
Set number two began in similar fashion but with the score even at four, Neumann scored five of the next six for a 9-5 lead. They extended the lead to 13-7 but the Blazers fought back with a 7-4 run. The Knights put the set away with five straight points for a 22-14 lead. Hood tried to claw back but fell by a 25-19 score.
In the third, with the score even at 11, the Knights went on their first significant run of the set, scoring four in a row. They maintained that four-point edge but with the score at 18-14, Neumann scored five in a row on their way to a 25-16 set win, and a sweep of the match.
The Knights were led by
Trey Edmonds' 10 kills, seven digs, and two service aces.
John Soeffing had six kills on his way to a .417 hitting percentage.
Noah Banaag picked up 19 assists and seven digs while both Soeffing and
Kareem Galloway were a part of three blocks.
Neumann (1-0) will open the home portion of their 2026 schedule on Thursday, February 5
th as they host Eastern University for a 7:00 PM start.
