YORK, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer team defeated York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon in their inaugural Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth match by a final score of 1-0.
Neumann had a strong first half of play, outshooting York 10-1, with a 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. It took until the 44
th minute for those efforts to yield a result as
Conor McCarthy took a left-footed cross across the box. He connected with
Darwin Berger who bounced in his first goal of the season. York bounced back in the second half, outshooting the Knights by a 7-5 margin but they could not find an equalizer.
Harry Beugre led the Knights with five shots, one on goal.
Jordan Illian attempted four shots with two on goal while
Chase Dougherty had two shots.
Seiya Sato needed just one save for the win and his third clean sheet of the season.
Neumann (6-3-1, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) will return to action on Wednesday night when they host their cross-county rivals, Widener University, for a 7:00 PM start.
