YORK, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer, in their first-ever Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth game, dropped a 5-0 decision against York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.
York got on the board in the ninth minute as a corner kick crossed the six-yard box and was headed in for the 1-0 lead. The Spartans doubled their advantage in the 31
st minutes as a high bouncing ball into the box got free and was tapped in. They added one more in the 44
th minute as a cross was volleyed into the net.
In the second half, York continued to control much of the action, and in the 66
th minute, they broke through again as a crossing pass found a late runner and was pushed in. Five minutes later, with the Knights attempting to push the offense, the Spartans countered with a fast break and converted a goal from close in.
Dylan Brown and
Delaney Babish had the Knights two shots with Brown's reaching the goalkeeper.
Shannon Duffy made six saves in goal.
Neumann (2-6-1, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) will be back in action on Tuesday night when they host Widener University for a 7:00 PM start.
