ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Soccer team fell on Friday afternoon in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth game against Eastern University by a final score of 4-0.
Eastern took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute as a cross connected at the top of the box and a shot was lifted over the Neumann goalkeeper. The Knights were able to fend off any further goals against, despite giving up 16 shots while only getting three. 22 seconds into the second half, the Eagles doubled their advantage on a breakaway goal. In the 57
th minute, they added another goal as a loose ball was deposited in the goal from point blank range. Eastern notched one more in the 65
th minute as a corner kick snuck over the goal line.
Ebony Arvelo led the Knights with three shots, two on goal.
Julianna Hatt had two shots with one on goal, while
Malina Winterringer saw her only shot saved by the Eagle goalie.
Shannon Duffy made a career-high 17 saves in goal.
Neumann (2-8-1, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) will get back to action on Wednesday when they visit Albright for a 7:00 PM start in Reading.
