ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Pratt Institute 60-33 in Atlantic East Conference action on Wednesday evening.
Emily DuPont led the Knights with 12 points and four assists. Twelve of Neumann's 14 players scored at least two points as the team spread the wealth in the game. Thirteen of the 14 players grabbed at least one rebound, led by
Bri Gautier and
Jenna Aponik with seven each.
The Knights jumped out to a 9-0 lead over the first four-plus minutes of the game. The Cannoneers got on the board with a free throw midway through the quarter. DuPont finished the first quarter with a fast-break layup for a 19-6 score after one.
The second quarter saw the most action as the Knights continued to build on their lead. A jumper by
Jess Aponik late in the quarter put Neumann up by 21, 37-16. Pratt hit the last basket before halftime for a 37-18 score at the break.
The Knights continued to build their lead throughout the second half and came away with a complete team 60-33 win.
Neumann (7-15, 5-6 Atlantic East) will host Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday in its final home game of the regular season. Prior to the 1:00 PM tip-off, the Knights will honor their senior class.
