Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision against non-conference foe, Ursinus College on Wednesday afternoon.

Neumann got the first goal of the game with 10:33 left in the first quarter as Krista Geibler received a pass from Alena Catka and threw it home for the 1-0 lead. Ursinus controlled the rest of the quarter with three goals and added three more in the second before the Knights were able to answer. With 12:02 left, Catka found Geibler in the middle of the scoring area for her third of the season, and Neumann trailed by four at the break.

The Bears pulled away in the quarter as they scored six straight for a 12-2 lead after 45 minutes. 55 seconds into the fourth, the Knights were able to get back on the board as Catka scooped a ground ball and notched a goal. She struck again at the 12:58 mark as she swept across the right and fired into the cage. After a Ursinus goal, Catka completed the hat-trick after a pass from Kenna Sanders found her on the crease, making it 13-5 with 10:40 to go. Less than two minutes later, Brighid Brady, on a free position opportunity, decided against shooting and fed Catka for another goal, her seventh of the season. With 8:11 left, Catka found Rachel Roane for a goal, but the Bears closed out the game with the last two.

Catka finished the game with four goals and three assists with five draw controls. Geibler had two goals, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Maggie Miller was Neumann's leading defender with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sarah Kiraly ended with 10 saves.

Neumann (0-2) will next take a trip south to the Sunshine State for an exhibition match-up against Division II Saint Leo University on Tuesday night. The opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
