Men’s Hockey Season Ends in NCAA Tournament

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team wrapped up its season in the NCAA Tournament, falling at No. 6 Hamilton College 6-2 on Saturday evening.
 
Jared Coccimiglio scored both goals for the Knights. The first year opened the scoring 8:11 into the game off an assist from Niko Tishkevich. Neumann took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
 
The Continentals tied the game at one 1:25 into the second period. Midway through the second, Hamilton took a 2-1 lead with a power play goal. Less than a minute later, Coccimiglio scored his second goal to tie the game at two. Dustin Patterson and Tyler Kennedy drew the assists. The teams went into the second intermission knotted at two.
 
Coccimiglio hit the post in the first minute of the third period as he tried for the hat trick and to break the tie. Max Donohoe also hit the post while the Knights were on the man-advantage, but the puck did not find the back of the net. Hamilton answered with two goals in a 17 second span, five minutes into the third period to take a 4-2 lead. Two minutes later, the Continentals added another goal for a 5-2 score.
 
The Knights pulled the goalie and Hamilton scored an empty net goal to seal the win. Christian Green made 26 saves in net for Neumann. Coccimiglio led the Knights with five shots on net. Sonny DiNubile blocked three shots. Matt Dimaline won 15 faceoffs and Coccimiglio won 10.
 
Neumann finishes its season 17-9-2.
