Men’s Lacrosse Downed by Drew

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Lacrosse team was dealt a 13-4 loss against Drew University in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.

Drew took the lead with 10:45 left in the first quarter and didn't look back as they led 6-0 after 15 minutes. They put up the first two goals on the second before Sean Kelly took a pass from Matt Morris for his first goal of the season to get Neumann on the scoresheet. The Rangers closed out the half with two more strikes for a 10-1 lead at the intermission.

The defense stepped up for the Knights in the third as they only allowed two goals but they couldn't get their offense on track. With 8:18 left in the fourth, Morris notched his fifth of the season. Two minutes later, Bryan Avanzato struck for his fourth of the year on a neat spinning shot. After Drew extended the lead back to 10, Luke Sykes scored with the man-down with 2:45 left for his fifth of the year, closing out the day.

Morris finished with a goal and two assists and Sykes had a goal and an assist. Kelly had a big day at the face-off dot, winning 17 of the 20 draws he took, and scooping up 13 ground balls. Darius Thompson had eight ground balls and Kaden Adams had six. Owen Avelar made 21 saves in goal.

Neumann (0-6) will get back in action on Wednesday night with another non-conference match-up as they'll take on King's College for a 7:00 PM start
