ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a 7-0 win over Cairn University on Thursday afternoon.
Mike Brown and
James Leuzzi won their first doubles match 6-2. The Knights also picked up a forfeit win at third doubles to take the first point.
The Knights went on to sweep singles action. Brown won his first singles match 6-1, 6-3.
Adam Barisa battled to a 6-4, 7-5 win at second singles. Leuzzi picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win at third singles.
Luca Troilo scored a 6-1, 6-3 win at fourth singles.
Chandler Wolf wrapped up the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles. Neumann took the point at sixth singles with a forfeit.
"It was great getting the match jitters out. Playing second singles and dealing with the increased competition was an adjustment, but by the Grace of God, I was able to win for the team," said Barisa. "Before the match, we emphasized "Faith over Fear" from Isaiah 41:10, and he we keep with that same mindset, I think we can be a good team."
Neumann (4-2) opens Atlantic East action on Saturday when it hosts Pratt beginning at 12:00 PM.
