Softball Swept by Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The Neumann University Softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon against undefeated Stockton University. The final scores were 16-0 and 9-1.

Stockton got the day started in the first inning of game one with a sacrifice fly and a solo home run. In the second, they pulled away with six runs on a two-run single and four RBI doubles. They added runs in the third on a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly then closed out the scoring in the fourth on a two-run double, and RBI triple, two RBI singles, and an RBI grounder. Neumann best threat was in the third when Cioni Simmons walked and Emily Ammon singled but they could not convert that into more offense.

Marina Costello suffered the loss to drop her personal record to 2-2. In one inning of work, she allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one. Ang Sannicandro and Courtney McKenna finished up in the circle.

The Ospreys got off to a similar start in the second game, notching four runs in the first inning on two RBI singles and a two-run double. They would score three runs in the second on a two-run single and a double with two more in the third on RBI singles.

In the fourth, Ammon, with one away, reached base on an error and stole second. She then scored Neumann's lone run of the day when Dakota Marshall singled with an error allowing the run.

Sydney Wright battled in the circle but was handed the loss to drop her record to 1-2. Rebecca DiLeo pitched the final inning, allowing just a walk.

Neumann (5-7) will begin their Atlantic East Conference schedule on Saturday as they host Immaculata University in a doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 12:00 PM with game two starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
