Atlantic East Honors Four Knights in Weekly Awards

HADDONFIELD, N.J. – The Atlantic East Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon as four Neumann University athletes were recognized. Women's Lacrosse swept the major awards with Alena Catka getting Player of the Week, and Maggie Miller earned Defensive Player of the Week. Baseball's Anthony Rakotz, and Softball's Ellie Zarnawski were both named to the weekly Honor Roll.
 
Catka scored 11 goals and had seven assists for 18 points in a 1-2 week for the Knights. The junior added 26 draw controls, six ground balls and three caused turnovers. In the 17-3 win at Eastern, she had five goals and two assists. The Knights then traveled to DII Jefferson where Catka had a goal and an assist with 10 draw controls. She finished with five goals, four assists and 11 draw controls in a close 16-15 setback to DeSales. This is her second Player of the Week award this season and fourth in her Neumann career.
 
Miller caused 10 turnovers, grabbed 12 ground balls, five draw controls while adding six goals in three assists for the Knights. At Eastern, Miller caused six turnovers and grabbed six ground balls. She followed with three goals and an assist against Jefferson. Against DeSales, Miller had three goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
Rakotz hit .500 (5-for-10) with three runs scored, four walks, two RBI and two steals as Neumann opened conference action 1-2. During Saturday's doubleheader at Gwynedd Mercy, the junior went 2-for-3 in each game. In Sunday's series finale, he was 1-for-4 with a walk, and an RBI. This is the second weekly Honor Roll selection of his career.
 
Zarnawski hit .500 (5-for-10) with three doubles, four RBI and four runs scored over four games. In the conference opening doubleheader against Immaculata, the first year went 5-for-6 and scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh of game two as Neumann walked-off a 7-6 win. She knocked in two runs in each game we the Knights won game one 12-5. This is her second weekly award after being named the Player of the Week on March 9th.
