ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University softball team dropped a pair of contests to visiting Elizabethtown College on Wednesday afternoon. Game scores were 10-0 in five innings and 8-2.
In the first game, the Blue Jays scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning to get on the board early. Elizabethtown added four in the third and five in the fourth for the 10-0 score.
Lauren Farrier started the game in the circle and went 3.2 innings.
Rebecca DiLeo pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning.
In game two, Elizabethtown struck early again and scored three runs, one earned, in the top of the first. In the bottom of the first,
Emily Ammon led off with a walk, stole second and third and scored on a single by
Ellie Zarnawski.
With the Blue Jays leading 6-1 in the third, Ammon led off the inning with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Marina Costello. Elizabethtown added two more unearned runs in the fifth.
Sydney Wright went the distance in the circle, allowing just two earned runs. Wright, Zarnawski and
Rylie Norris each had two hits in the game.
Neumann (7-9) hosts Swarthmore tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 PM.
