ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Women's Flag Football took down Penn State Schuylkill in an Atlantic East Conference game on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 40-12.

Ava Valente had 284 all-purpose yards with 231 in the air, four touchdown passes, and a rushing touchdown. Tasia Gaskins led with 76 receiving yards with Nilah Nahim nabbed 54 yards. Celeste Adjaglo had five tackles and broke up two passes. Sam Knight two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, and three tackles.

It didn't take very long for Neumann to break into the scoring column as Valente connected with Nahim for a 43-yard touchdown pass, giving them a 6-0 lead with 12:42 left in the first. On the next possession, Knight snared a Nittany Lion pass at the 25-yard line and returned it into the end zone. The two-point conversion was good for a 14-0 lead, just five minutes into the game. Things settled down but with five minutes left in the quarter, Valente found Gaskins for a 46-yard touchdown pass, giving Neumann a 21-point edge.

The second quarter featured more of the same as, with 9:26 left in the second, Valente connected to Kayla Maisch for a six-yard touchdown strike. The one-point conversation was good, making it 28-0. A lead that would extend to halftime.

Early in the third, Valenta used her feet for a score as she scampered into the end zone from five yards out to lead by 34. With 4:50 remaining in the quarter, Penn State Schuylkill scored their first touchdown of the game to break the shutout. They scored again early in the fourth, but the Knights would score one more on a 10-yard touchdown pass to Shannon Duffy.

Neumann (6-3, 6-3 Atlantic East) will return to action on Thursday when they visit Eastern University for a tri-match. They'll take on the hosts at 4:30 PM before battling Holy Family University at 6:00 PM.
