Quick Start Helps Women’s Lacrosse to First-Ever Win Over Saints

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team opened Atlantic East Conference action with its first ever win over Marymount University on Saturday afternoon, winning 15-9.
 
Maggie Miller, Ainsley George and Alena Catka each scored three goals for the Knights. Catka also grabbed 11 draw controls. Sarah Kiraly made eight saves in net for the win.
 
The Knights scored three quick goals to open the game. Rachel Roane opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game. Arianna Hutchison and Miller scored 36 seconds apart for a 3-0 Neumann lead in the first three minutes. Later in the quarter, George and Catka scored in an 11-second span and the Knights held a 5-0 advantage after one quarter of play.
 
Krista Geibler and Roane scored in the first minute of the second quarter, both assisted by Gracie Kucia. Hutchison scored her second goal of the game and the Knights took an 8-0 lead. After the Saints got on the board, but Miller answered right back for her second goal of the game. The teams traded goals until halftime and Neumann took an 11-3 lead into the break.
 
The Saints came out strong to open the second half and scored the first three goals of the quarter. Catka scored the only other goal in the third quarter the Knights still lead by a 12-6 score heading into the final quarter.
 
George scored the first goal of the fourth. The Saints attempted to start a comeback as they scored the next three goals for a 13-9 game. Miller and Catka capped the scoring with goals in the final minute to secure the 15-9 final.
 
Neumann (3-6, 1-0 Atlantic East) will host Salisbury on Wednesday in non-conference action beginning at 4:00 PM.
